This outing has been on my wishlist for about a year now because we had to wait until Lucas was at least 3 before he was allowed to go on the cable cars. I was excited to be able to do it while my Mom was in town visiting.
Lucas was also very excited for this journey. He has re-enacted our outing several times over the last few days, explaining how we got to the top of the mountain.
The Aiguille du Midi can be reached by taking 2 cable cars from the town of Chamonix. The base of the cable car station is located here. There is parking just across the main street heading into the town, here. Pricing and timetables for the lifts can be found here. When you step off the top lift you are greeted with 360 degree beautiful mountain views. From the top station there are a few different areas to explore including the "Step Into the Void" where you are able to step into glass box:
There are also a couple restaurant options at the top of the lift. The first is a more casual café that serves french fries, sandwiches and salads and the second is a sit down restaurant. We opted for the more casual restaurant during our trip. We mostly enjoyed wandering around at the top to admire the views and to watch some of the rock climbers in action reaching the tip of the mountain.

But, our favorite spots were from the upper deck outside:
The views behind the glass while waiting in line for the "Step Into The Void" were also fabulous:
