Painting a Pumpkin - A New Autumn Tradition

This year we decided a painted pumpkin was more appropriate than a carved pumpkin.

Eliana wouldn't have been able to participate as much with carving a pumpkin.  This way she enjoyed it and we had fun watching and helping!

First we had to pick out our pumpkin.

So we made our annual trip to Soergel Orchards.  This year it was much more fun with Eliana tagging along with Grandma and Grandpa too!

We all enjoyed a picnic on the grass eating Soergel's pulled pork sandwiches, homemade mac 'n cheese  and many other goodies!

Eliana loved the pulled pork!

There were a lot of pumpkins to choose from.

Eliana took her time crawling around the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect pumpkin.

She tested them out to make sure they were sturdy.

And then she thought long and hard about it.

But in the end she picked the perfect pumpkin.

Now it was time to paint!

And then Eliana decided that finger painting a pumpkin was so much fun that she should taste the paint too.  The tasting of the paint wasn't quite as fun...

Our end product.

A perfectly painted pumpkin.

It is on display at home with our other Fall decorations.

Picking and painting the perfect pumpkin was hard work! Eliana needed to snuggle with Daddy.

Daddy and Mommy are so proud of Eliana's Perfectly Painted Pumpkin!
